Flight to freedom

A fitting finale, the flight to freedom shows the end to the dove’s struggle when trapped under a net set up by some hunters. Together they carry a small part of the net in their beaks and fly away.

Monkey and the Wedge

The story is available here

A merchant once started building a temple in the middle of his garden. Many masons and carpenters were working for the merchant. They took time off every day to go to the town for their lunch. One day, when the workers left for lunch a batch of monkeys landed at the temple site and began playing with whatever caught their fancy. One of the monkeys saw a partly sawed log of wood and a wedge fixed in it so that it does not close up.

Curious to know what it is, the monkey began furiously tugging at the wedge. At last the wedge came off, not before trapping the legs of the monkey into the rift of the log. Very soon, not able to get his legs out of the closed wood, the monkey died.

Moral: It is not wise to poke our nose into affairs that are not our concern.

The Lion and the Rabbit

The Panchatantra is filled with many tales with animals as the main characters. Hence the setting is an enchanting emerald forest. The most popular tale is that of proud lion and a clever rabbit. The story can be read here

In the image, the rabbit camp which was happy till a few minutes back, suddenly is taken over by sadness and fright as one of the rabbits is chosen to be the meal for the king. This is one of the most popular Panchatantra tale and sets the tone for the rest of the show. The stage, light and props used are excellent. The emotions involved in depicting the tale have been essayed very well indeed.
