Daru Shifa

Darushifa, one of the oldest suburbs of Hyderabad, is located in old city and get its name from a hospital built by the Sultan Quli Qutb Shahi more than 400 years ago. Literally translated Daru Shifa would mean “House of Cure” or “Door to Health”.

There are many well-known landmarks in this area. The more popular ones being Salar Jung Museum, the Aza Khana e Zehra, Daru Shifa Jama Masjid and the Daru Shifa building. Until 1980s, the Daru Shifa building housed the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation head office, currently it has been serving as the Quli Qutb Shahi Urban Development Authority head office.
