The image depicts the detail on the walls of the Badeshahi Ashoor Khana. During the 1908 floods, Musi was inundated and created havoc in the city of Hyderabad. The Ashoor Khana was also flooded and then walls were destroyed upto the height of 5.5 – 6 feet. In an attempt to restore the monument, the walls were repainted with water colours and similar designs. It does look very similar and almost blends in. One wouldn’t notice it unless one looks more closely. The cracks in the image were caused by the floods and hopefully one can perceive the difference in texture between the water colour below and the mosaic on top of the crack.
