The Yellamma temple at Balkampet wears a festive look on the 15th July, when Hyderabad celebrates Bonalu Ladies walk with the pots to the entrance of the temple. Roadside vendors get ready selling the pots flowers and other paraphernalia. Goats and chickens are offered to the goddess at the entrance of the temple.
A man offers his prayers and blessings while offering the Goddess a chicken as a sacrifice. Sometimes the animals are overwhelmed with the crowd and show some fright as they sense their own life coming to an end. Adjacent to the temple a few butchers stand and help the devotees by the chickens and goats meet their end. A few minutes before the goat is finally sacrificed.
